Where to Check First

For Tuolumne County jail custody, start with the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office and the John H. "Jack" Dambacher Detention Center. The county does not publish a full current-inmate roster through Citizen RIMS, so phone checks and records requests matter more here than they do in counties with a live public jail list.

The Sheriff's Records Section handles report and custody-record requests allowed under the California Public Records Act, including Government Code 7922.525 for access and inspection. Copies have a $0.10 per page minimum, and voluminous or case-report requests may require a $25 cash deposit. The report request form cites the 10-day determination timing reflected in Government Code 7922.535. Records that are still under investigation, sent to the District Attorney, or tied to Probation may be limited.

Custody status is different from a criminal court file. For filed charges, hearing dates, warrants, bail refunds, and criminal-record search requests, use the court. For charging decisions, victim-witness services, or prosecution questions, use the District Attorney's Office.
